Samuel Hylton is hiring for

Video Editor for True Crime Channel

👉 Job Description

Samuel Hylton is seeking a skilled video editor to help craft compelling true crime documentaries for a faceless, documentary-style channel. This role is ideal for an editor who enjoys turning raw footage, narration, graphics, and sound into immersive stories that keep viewers engaged from start to finish.

Our productions rely on careful storytelling and strong editorial instincts. You’ll work with real case footage, interviews, interrogation clips, voiceover, motion graphics, and audio elements to build episodes that are clear, dramatic, and emotionally effective. We’re looking for someone who pays attention to the full viewing experience, from pacing and tension to the exact moment music should support or step away from a scene.

You’ll be part of a remote team and collaborate closely with creative leads and fellow editors. Clear communication, consistency, and a willingness to refine work based on feedback are essential to success in this role.

What you’ll be doing

  • Assembling long-form documentary segments into cohesive, engaging stories.
  • Blending source footage, narration, graphics, and music to support the narrative flow.
  • Designing and adapting motion graphics that fit the channel’s visual identity and help explain key details.
  • Developing sound design and balancing dialogue, voiceover, and music for clarity and atmosphere.
  • Making strong editorial choices about pacing, emphasis, and what information to reveal or hold back.
  • Responding to detailed notes and revisions while maintaining a high standard across every episode.
  • Keeping projects organized, communicating progress clearly, and raising issues early when needed.

What we’re looking for

  • A video editor with at least 1 year of experience and a portfolio that shows strong storytelling ability.
  • Confidence using Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects.
  • Strong instincts for motion graphics, sound, pacing, and audience retention.
  • Someone who can study existing content, understand the creative approach, and apply it effectively to new edits.
  • A collaborative communicator who welcomes feedback and enjoys improving work through iteration.
  • Availability for a stable, long-term arrangement with regular overlap during team working hours.
  • Comfort working with sensitive and sometimes graphic true crime material.

Experience in true crime content is helpful, but what matters most is the quality of your editing, your storytelling sense, and your ability to adapt. Additional experience in writing, story development, or guiding other editors is a plus.

How we work

This is a fully remote position built around collaboration. Our editors stay connected through Discord voice calls during the workday, divide episodes into manageable sections, and review progress with team leads along the way.

We give detailed feedback and expect a thoughtful approach to revisions. We’re looking for someone who enjoys that process, brings ideas to the table, and takes pride in delivering polished work.

As you grow with the team, there may be opportunities to take on more responsibility in story development, writing, and eventually production leadership.

If you’re an editor who thrives in a creative, feedback-driven environment and wants to help shape high-quality true crime content, we’d love to hear from you.
