We're on the hunt for a talented and witty wordsmith to help shape content for our tech-centric YouTube channels, including Techquickie, TechLinked, GameLinked, and more.

In this exciting position, you'll be tasked with turning complex tech news and hardware topics into captivating scripts that both educate and amuse. If you can identify a chipset and crack a joke about it, you're exactly who we want on our team.

Your Responsibilities:

• Create precise, clear, and humorous video scripts that engage viewers in 5-10 minute segments.
• Stay ahead of the curve by researching the latest hardware trends, tech news, and gaming stories, ensuring our content remains fresh and insightful.
• Draft 'paper edits' that outline the corresponding visuals for each script.
• Collaborate closely with the Editing and Writing teams to perfect the tone, structure, and pace of video drafts, maximizing clarity and audience engagement.
• Propose new ideas and work alongside the Writing team to choose topics that resonate with our audience and reflect the latest in PC hardware and gaming trends.
• Engage with subject matter experts to ensure our coverage is both comprehensive and accurate.

What We’re Looking For:

• Experience in writing for tech or gaming media is a plus.
• Comfort with collaborative tools such as Google Docs, Microsoft Teams, and Airtable.
• An understanding of the Linus Media Group's unique voice and style.

Experience Levels:

Multi-Channel Writer - Level 2:

• Base Salary Range: $75,000 - $100,000 CAD per year
• Minimum of two years of experience in tech writing, journalism, or scriptwriting.
• Experience thriving in fast-paced, deadline-driven writing environments.
• Solid grasp of consumer tech functionality, with expertise in one or two specific areas.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with a clear vision for each.
• Familiarity with YouTube content creation and knowledge of hooks, pacing, outros, and thumbnails.

Multi-Channel Senior Writer - Level 3:

• Base Salary Range: $100,000 - $120,000 CAD per year
• Over two years of experience in at least two fields: tech, comedy, scriptwriting, or hosting.
• Master storyteller skilled at crafting narratives that blend engaging pacing with sharp analysis and humor.
• Produces clean, polished work requiring minimal editing.
• Excels in a high-paced newsroom environment, managing multiple projects efficiently.
• Expertise in four or more tech subjects with a deep understanding of the industry landscape.
• Well-established presence and connections within the tech community.
